Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Information Technology, Beverages & Tobacco and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.44%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were EB Creasy and Company PLC (CM:EBCR), which rose 9.99% or 124.90 points to trade at 1375.00 at the close. Samson International PLC (CM:SIL) added 9.05% or 8.30 points to end at 100.00 and Browns Investments PLC (CM:BROW) was up 7.69% or 0.100 points to 1.400 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Standard Capital PLC (CM:SING), which lost 5.76% or 4.90 points to trade at 80.10 in late trade. CT Land Development PLC (CM:CTLD) declined 5.36% or 3.00 points to end at 53.00 and Singhe Hospitals Ltd (CM:SIGH) shed 4.76% or 0.100 points to 2.000.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 104 to 85 and 52 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.14% or 0.06 to $41.65 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.14% or 0.06 to hit $44.11 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.07% or 0.95 to trade at $1350.95 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.50% to 189.485, while USD/LKR fell 0.09% to 145.500.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.24% at 95.82.
