Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Materials and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 1.66% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which rose 0.89% or 0.12 points to trade at 13.66 at the close. Ahold Kon (AS:AHLN) added 0.73% or 0.14 points to end at 20.02 and Unilever NV (AS:UNc) was down 0.04% or 0.01 points to 39.44 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 5.93% or 0.25 points to trade at 3.98 in late trade. Gemalto (AS:GTO) declined 5.25% or 3.33 points to end at 60.13 and Randstad (AS:RAND) shed 3.86% or 1.82 points to 45.37.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 123 to 37 and 14 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 7.83% to 24.07.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $35.70 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $37.69 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.90% or 11.00 to trade at $1230.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.04% to 1.1395, while EUR/GBP rose 0.85% to 0.8050.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.02% at 94.57.
