Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Gas, Water & Multiutilities, Household Goods & Home Construction and Media sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Aberdeen Asset Management PLC (LON:ADN), which rose 5.49% or 16.20 points to trade at 311.20 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 4.55% or 51.000 points to end at 1171.000 and International Consolidated Airlines Group SA (LON:ICAG) was up 4.39% or 17.90 points to 426.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sports Direct International PLC (LON:SPD), which lost 2.54% or 6.900 points to trade at 265.100 in late trade. Marks and Spencer Group PLC (LON:MKS) declined 2.31% or 7.80 points to end at 330.50 and Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) shed 2.27% or 29.000 points to 1250.000.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1167 to 877 and 487 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 1.05% or 14.10 to $1329.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.74% or 0.78 to hit $45.53 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.95% or 0.90 to trade at $47.16 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 1.45% to 1.3337, while EUR/GBP fell 1.31% to 0.8333.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.24% at 96.13.
