Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Travel, Telecoms and Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 2.24% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Elinoil Hellenic Petroleum Company SA (AT:ELIr), which rose 9.78% or 0.0900 points to trade at 1.0100 at the close. Athens Medical (AT:AMCr) added 8.76% or 0.058 points to end at 0.720 and Athens Water (AT:EYDr) was up 6.31% or 0.35 points to 5.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included FHL I Kiriakidis Marbles and Granites SA (AT:KRKr), which lost 10.56% or 0.300 points to trade at 2.790 in late trade. Papoutsanis (AT:PSALr) declined 3.61% or 0.006 points to end at 0.160 and J. & P. Avax (AT:AVAr) shed 2.22% or 0.010 points to 0.440.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 73 to 36 and 12 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.04% or 0.45 to $1216.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.93% or 0.46 to hit $49.79 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.26% or 0.13 to trade at $50.49 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.02% to 1.1137, while EUR/GBP rose 0.57% to 0.7652.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 95.77.
