Investing.com – Philippines equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Holding Firms, Industrials and Property sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Philippines, the PSEi Composite gained 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSEi Composite were JG Summit Holdings Inc (PS:JGS), which rose 3.16% or 2.500 points to trade at 81.500 at the close. Energy Development Corp (PS:EDC) added 3.02% or 0.170 points to end at 5.790 and Aboitiz Power Corp (PS:AP) was up 2.13% or 0.95 points to 45.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bloomberry Resorts Corp (PS:BLOOM), which lost 2.18% or 0.090 points to trade at 4.040 in late trade. Philex Mining Corp (PS:PX) declined 1.71% or 0.110 points to end at 6.340 and LT Group Inc (PS:LTG) shed 1.63% or 0.240 points to 14.500.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 113 to 59 and 53 ended unchanged on the Philippines Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.69% or 8.90 to $1282.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $43.66 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.22% or 0.10 to trade at $44.87 a barrel.
CNY/PHP was up 0.50% to 7.2563, while USD/PHP rose 0.62% to 47.160.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 93.17.
