Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Basic Materials and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 2.23% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 8.39% or 0.30 points to trade at 3.88 at the close. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) added 7.55% or 1.00 points to end at 14.25 and Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL) was up 7.40% or 0.43 points to 6.18 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa), which added 0.31% or 0.07 points to trade at 21.21 in late trade. TNT Express (AS:TNTE) added 0.38% or 0.030 points to end at 7.899 and Gemalto (AS:GTO) gained 0.43% or 0.25 points to 58.82.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 139 to 36 and 8 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 4.82% to 26.78.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 2.37% or 0.80 to $34.55 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 1.42% or 0.52 to hit $37.09 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.28% or 3.50 to trade at $1230.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.28% to 1.0847, while EUR/GBP fell 0.49% to 0.7777.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.22% at 98.50.
