Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Chemicals and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 0.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr), which rose 5.26% or 0.01 points to trade at 0.20 at the close. Viohalco SA (AT:VIOH) added 5.17% or 0.060 points to end at 1.220 and Select Textile (AT:EPIr) was up 4.52% or 0.007 points to 0.162 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr), which lost 9.62% or 0.0150 points to trade at 0.1410 in late trade. Kri-Kri Milk (AT:KRIr) declined 5.39% or 0.090 points to end at 1.580 and Papoutsanis (AT:PSALr) shed 4.80% or 0.006 points to 0.119.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 50 to 46 and 12 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.86% or 11.40 to $1329.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.52% or 1.11 to hit $45.16 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.92% or 0.88 to trade at $46.76 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.02% to 1.1149, while EUR/GBP rose 0.15% to 0.8597.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 95.86.
