Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Information Technology, Trading and Investment Trust sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share lost 1.89% to hit a new 52-week low.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Agalawatte Plantations PLC (CM:AGAL), which rose 21.67% or 3.90 points to trade at 21.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Serendib Engineering Group PLC (CM:IDL) added 11.25% or 0.90 points to end at 8.90 and Asia Capital PLC (CM:ACAP) was up 8.11% or 0.60 points to 7.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were PC House PLC (CM:PCHO), which fell 50.00% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.200 at the close. Udapussellawa Plantations PLC (CM:UDPL) declined 22.75% or 5.30 points to end at 18.00 and Tangerine Beach Hotels PLC (CM:TANG) was down 22.61% or 17.70 points to 60.60.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 204 to 26 and 10 ended unchanged.
Shares in Udapussellawa Plantations PLC (CM:UDPL) fell to 3-years lows; down 22.75% or 5.30 to 18.00. Shares in Asia Capital PLC (CM:ACAP) rose to 5-year lows; up 8.11% or 0.60 to 7.40. Shares in Tangerine Beach Hotels PLC (CM:TANG) fell to 52-week lows; losing 22.61% or 17.70 to 60.60.
Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.94% or 0.28 to $30.11 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 1.00% or 0.29 to hit $28.65 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.07% or 0.80 to trade at $1089.90 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.74% to 204.780, while USD/LKR fell 0.09% to 143.625.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 99.14.
