Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 2.92% or 0.161 points to trade at 5.670 at the close. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) added 1.83% or 0.28 points to end at 15.58 and SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) was up 1.57% or 0.19 points to 12.27 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aegon (AS:AEGN), which lost 0.42% or 0.015 points to trade at 3.590 in late trade. Unilever NV (AS:UNc) declined 0.19% or 0.08 points to end at 42.27 and Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) shed 0.02% or 0.01 points to 21.98.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 115 to 47 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 1.68% to 16.01.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 1.36% or 0.61 to $45.44 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 1.46% or 0.69 to hit $47.95 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.47% or 6.40 to trade at $1347.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.23% to 1.1229, while EUR/GBP rose 0.62% to 0.8428.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.25% at 95.04.
