Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Healthcare and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 1.78% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Elia (BR:ELI), which fell 0.21% or 0.095 points to trade at 45.750 at the close. NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) fell 0.87% or 0.34 points to end at 39.17 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) was down 0.91% or 0.48 points to 52.42 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 3.18% or 1.525 points to trade at 46.385 in late trade. Telenet Group (BR:TNET) declined 2.75% or 1.11 points to end at 39.46 and Proximus NV (BR:PROX) shed 2.72% or 0.76 points to 27.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 123 to 19 and 17 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.12% or 1.55 to $1285.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.19% or 0.58 to hit $48.30 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.51% or 0.76 to trade at $49.59 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.74% to 1.1208, while EUR/GBP rose 0.10% to 0.7931.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.60% at 94.99.
