Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 2.96%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 11.08% or 0.42 points to trade at 4.17 at the close. Meanwhile, Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL) added 8.09% or 0.41 points to end at 5.46 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) was up 6.67% or 0.81 points to 12.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were TNT Express (AS:TNTE), which fell 0.08% or 0.006 points to trade at 7.799 at the close. NN Group (AS:NN) added 0.66% or 0.21 points to end at 32.26 and Aalberts Industries (AS:AALB) was up 1.75% or 0.54 points to 31.12.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 154 to 26 and 3 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 9.36% to 20.58 a new 1-month low.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 4.01% or 1.45 to $37.59 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 2.95% or 1.06 to hit $37.17 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.49% or 5.30 to trade at $1068.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.76% to 1.0874, while EUR/GBP fell 1.01% to 0.7314.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.43% at 98.63.
