Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Healthcare and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.56%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 3.14% or 1.150 points to trade at 37.790 at the close. Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI) added 1.47% or 1.60 points to end at 110.75 and UCB (BR:UCB) was up 1.09% or 0.74 points to 68.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which lost 0.98% or 0.35 points to trade at 35.70 in late trade. Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) declined 0.87% or 0.76 points to end at 86.64 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) shed 0.70% or 0.29 points to 42.05.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 86 to 59 and 8 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.38% or 4.70 to $1218.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.71% or 0.26 to hit $36.53 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.96% or 0.37 to trade at $38.30 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.01% to 1.1390, while EUR/GBP fell 0.37% to 0.7978.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.04% at 94.54.
