Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Consumer Services and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Aalberts Industries (AS:AALB), which rose 2.44% or 0.82 points to trade at 34.65 at the close. Vopak (AS:VOPA) added 1.83% or 0.74 points to end at 41.38 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 1.73% or 1.170 points to 68.680 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD), which lost 2.17% or 0.45 points to trade at 20.31 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) declined 2.11% or 0.184 points to end at 8.556 and Randstad (AS:RAND) shed 0.95% or 0.53 points to 55.05.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 68 to 60 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 0.07% to 13.92.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 1.99% or 1.07 to $52.76 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 2.06% or 1.16 to hit $55.20 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 1.38% or 17.25 to trade at $1232.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.35% to 1.0510, while EUR/GBP fell 0.09% to 0.8569.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.41% at 102.16.
