Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Healthcare, Basic Materials and Chemicals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 1.27%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which rose 1.51% or 0.24 points to trade at 16.11 at the close. Meanwhile, Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI) added 0.36% or 0.40 points to end at 112.40 and Telenet Group (BR:TNET) was down 0.08% or 0.04 points to 51.26 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which fell 3.08% or 3.20 points to trade at 100.75 at the close. UCB (BR:UCB) declined 2.29% or 1.86 points to end at 79.41 and bpost NV (BR:BPOST) was down 2.05% or 0.48 points to 22.98.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 124 to 29 and 4 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.51% or 5.50 to $1079.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.89% or 1.24 to hit $41.69 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 2.53% or 1.18 to trade at $45.43 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.43% to 1.0789, while EUR/GBP rose 0.45% to 0.7093.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.28% at 98.78.
