Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL), which rose 14.22% or 0.75 points to trade at 6.05 at the close. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) added 4.41% or 0.69 points to end at 16.32 and Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) was up 2.50% or 0.53 points to 21.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ING Groep NV (AS:ING), which lost 1.55% or 0.180 points to trade at 11.420 in late trade. Randstad (AS:RAND) declined 1.41% or 0.68 points to end at 47.70 and Unilever NV (AS:UNc) shed 0.99% or 0.40 points to 39.49.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 109 to 58 and 12 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 0.32% to 21.17 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 4.13% or 1.50 to $37.84 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 3.12% or 1.21 to hit $39.95 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.08% or 1.00 to trade at $1230.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.31% to 1.1074, while EUR/GBP rose 0.10% to 0.7859.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.30% at 96.95.
