Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Footwear & Textile, Banking, Financials & Insurance and Manufacturing sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Blue Diamonds Jewellery Worldwide PLC (CM:BLUE), which rose 30.77% or 0.40 points to trade at 1.70 at the close. Central Investments and Finance PLC (CM:CIFL) added 20.00% or 0.100 points to end at 0.600 and Chilaw Finance PLC (CM:CHIL) was up 14.97% or 2.80 points to 21.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Standard Capital PLC (CM:SING), which lost 22.22% or 20.00 points to trade at 70.00 in late trade. Singer Industries PLC (CM:SINI) declined 11.15% or 22.60 points to end at 180.00 and Kahawatte Plantations PLC (CM:KAHA) shed 10.60% or 3.90 points to 32.90.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 101 to 64 and 50 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.41% or 0.64 to $44.77 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 1.37% or 0.64 to hit $46.12 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.21% or 2.85 to trade at $1361.25 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.14% to 188.460, while USD/LKR rose 0.22% to 145.610.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.36% at 96.66.
