Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Telecoms and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD), which rose 1.64% or 0.32 points to trade at 19.87 at the close. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) added 1.32% or 0.200 points to end at 15.350 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa) was up 1.24% or 0.310 points to 25.230 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Koninklijke Boskalis Westminster NV (AS:BOSN), which lost 4.95% or 1.70 points to trade at 32.63 in late trade. Gemalto (AS:GTO) declined 4.04% or 2.24 points to end at 53.26 and Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) shed 1.60% or 1.23 points to 75.77.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 71 to 58 and 8 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 0.22% to 12.25.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 3.51% or 1.61 to $47.49 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 3.22% or 1.57 to hit $50.30 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.46% or 5.64 to trade at $1221.74 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.00% to 1.0874, while EUR/GBP fell 0.01% to 0.8406.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 99.44.
