Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Healthcare, Technology and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were bpost NV (BR:BPOST), which rose 0.69% or 0.15 points to trade at 21.87 at the close. Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) added 0.53% or 0.14 points to end at 25.60 and KBC (BR:KBC) was up 0.39% or 0.230 points to 59.540 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Umicore NV (BR:UMI), which lost 2.59% or 1.43 points to trade at 53.68 in late trade. Telenet Group (BR:TNET) declined 1.70% or 0.89 points to end at 51.41 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) shed 1.59% or 0.63 points to 39.04.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 71 to 42 and 7 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 0.29% or 3.40 to $1165.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 3.09% or 1.59 to hit $53.09 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.96% or 1.61 to trade at $55.94 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.77% to 1.0637, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.8385.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.59% at 101.00.
