Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, Financials and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB (BR:UCB), which rose 2.13% or 1.52 points to trade at 73.00 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 1.86% or 0.870 points to end at 47.770 and KBC (BR:KBC) was up 1.67% or 0.835 points to 50.700 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Umicore NV (BR:UMI), which lost 1.57% or 0.86 points to trade at 53.97 in late trade. NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) declined 1.24% or 0.47 points to end at 37.89 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) shed 0.84% or 0.95 points to 112.65.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 79 to 63 and 12 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.20% or 2.65 to $1343.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.97% or 1.46 to hit $47.65 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.99% or 1.52 to trade at $49.36 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.08% to 1.1315, while EUR/GBP fell 0.53% to 0.8615.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 94.55.
