Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Utilities, Telecoms and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.94%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL), which rose 1.77% or 0.09 points to trade at 5.07 at the close. Umicore NV (BR:UMI) added 0.45% or 0.18 points to end at 41.55 and DIeteren SA (BR:IETB) was up 0.16% or 0.045 points to 28.355 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which lost 4.31% or 0.62 points to trade at 13.87 in late trade. Proximus NV (BR:PROX) declined 1.59% or 0.49 points to end at 30.61 and KBC (BR:KBC) shed 1.41% or 0.665 points to 46.565.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 84 to 61 and 11 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 1.29% or 15.60 to $1225.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 4.97% or 1.66 to hit $31.73 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 4.09% or 1.42 to trade at $33.27 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.1021, while EUR/GBP rose 0.77% to 0.7854.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 97.44.
