Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Technology and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 2.43%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL), which rose 12.81% or 0.53 points to trade at 4.64 at the close. Meanwhile, DIeteren SA (BR:IETB) added 6.72% or 1.800 points to end at 28.570 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) was up 5.39% or 4.11 points to 80.36 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB), which rose 0.56% or 0.54 points to trade at 97.01 at the close. Elia (BR:ELI) added 0.65% or 0.285 points to end at 44.160 and Delhaize Group (BR:DELB) was up 1.30% or 1.18 points to 92.09.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 112 to 36 and 9 ended unchanged.
Gold for April delivery was up 0.27% or 3.30 to $1211.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 6.75% or 1.96 to hit $31.00 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 7.55% or 2.43 to trade at $34.61 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.01% to 1.1142, while EUR/GBP fell 0.04% to 0.7786.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 96.78.
