Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Construction & Materials, Software & Computers and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 3.45% to hit a new 52-week low.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which fell 0.93% or 0.13 points to trade at 13.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) fell 1.49% or 0.73 points to end at 48.21 and Delhaize Group (BR:DELB) was down 2.11% or 1.87 points to 86.72 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB), which fell 5.46% or 6.35 points to trade at 110.00 at the close. DIeteren SA (BR:IETB) declined 5.21% or 1.510 points to end at 27.460 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) was down 5.18% or 1.50 points to 27.47.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 140 to 14 and 7 ended unchanged.
Shares in DIeteren SA (BR:IETB) fell to 52-week lows; down 5.21% or 1.510 to 27.460.
Gold for April delivery was up 3.05% or 35.30 to $1193.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 2.40% or 0.74 to hit $30.15 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 1.88% or 0.64 to trade at $33.42 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.05% to 1.1160, while EUR/GBP rose 0.68% to 0.7742.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 96.91.
