Investing.com – Turkey stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Sports, Telecoms and Banking sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 fell 2.07% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the BIST 100 were Ihlas Holding (IS:IHLAS), which rose 4.55% or 0.010 points to trade at 0.220 at the close. Meanwhile, Petkim (IS:PETKM) added 1.80% or 0.090 points to end at 5.090 and Dogan Holding (IS:DOHOL) was up 1.79% or 0.010 points to 0.560 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Zorlu Enerji (IS:ZOREN), which fell 4.43% or 0.070 points to trade at 1.510 at the close. Alcatel Lucent Teletas (IS:ALCTL) declined 4.31% or 0.250 points to end at 5.550 and Galatasaray Sportif (IS:GSRAY) was down 4.14% or 0.68 points to 15.75.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Istanbul Stock Exchange by 321 to 77 and 13 ended unchanged.
Shares in Petkim (IS:PETKM) rose to all time highs; up 1.80% or 0.090 to 5.090. Shares in Galatasaray Sportif (IS:GSRAY) fell to 5-year lows; falling 4.14% or 0.68 to 15.75.
Gold for February delivery was up 1.36% or 14.80 to $1103.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 5.48% or 1.62 to hit $27.95 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 4.47% or 1.28 to trade at $27.48 a barrel.
USD/TRY was up 0.55% to 3.0566, while EUR/TRY rose 0.55% to 3.3350.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 99.05.
