Investing.com – Greece stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Insurance, Oil & Gas and Chemicals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite declined 0.83%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Kleeman Hellas (AT:KLEr), which rose 4.86% or 0.07 points to trade at 1.51 at the close. Meanwhile, Sarantiseg (AT:SRSr) added 3.63% or 0.28 points to end at 8.00 and A.S. Company (AT:ASCr) was up 2.66% or 0.009 points to 0.347 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Euro Reliance (AT:EREr), which fell 7.14% or 0.10 points to trade at 1.30 at the close. Motor Oil (AT:MORr) declined 5.41% or 0.54 points to end at 9.45 and Piraeus Port (AT:OLPr) was down 5.09% or 0.74 points to 13.81.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 60 to 32 and 9 ended unchanged.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.41% or 4.40 to $1089.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.99% or 0.30 to hit $30.74 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.60% or 0.18 to trade at $30.77 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.08% to 1.0852, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.7507.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 99.08.
