Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Construction & Materials and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 1.37%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were bpost NV (BR:BPOST), which fell 0.11% or 0.03 points to trade at 22.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Ageas (BR:AGES) fell 0.16% or 0.065 points to end at 41.115 and UCB (BR:UCB) was down 0.21% or 0.18 points to 83.88 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were DIeteren SA (BR:IETB), which fell 5.44% or 1.795 points to trade at 31.205 at the close. Umicore NV (BR:UMI) declined 2.43% or 0.92 points to end at 36.97 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) was down 2.09% or 1.99 points to 93.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 110 to 45 and 4 ended unchanged.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.18% or 1.90 to $1073.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.37% or 0.14 to hit $37.51 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.75% or 0.30 to trade at $40.42 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.44% to 1.0882, while EUR/GBP rose 0.77% to 0.7254.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.26% at 98.48.
