Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Consumer Services and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were SBM Offshore NV (AS:SBMO), which rose 1.89% or 0.26 points to trade at 14.02 at the close. Heineken (AS:HEIN) added 1.08% or 0.93 points to end at 87.18 and Relx NV (AS:RELN) was up 0.94% or 0.175 points to 18.765 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 1.56% or 1.090 points to trade at 68.670 in late trade. Gemalto (AS:GTO) declined 1.56% or 0.86 points to end at 54.29 and Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN) shed 0.79% or 0.023 points to 2.903.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 73 to 55 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 0.40% to 11.96.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.77% or 0.33 to $43.34 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.57% or 0.26 to hit $46.01 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.92% or 11.59 to trade at $1244.81 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.1185, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.8796.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 97.06.
