Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Technology and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 1.03% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which rose 2.42% or 1.28 points to trade at 54.17 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) added 2.30% or 0.169 points to end at 7.518 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 2.10% or 1.310 points to 63.560 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO), which lost 1.43% or 0.20 points to trade at 14.11 in late trade. Aalberts Industries (AS:AALB) added 0.05% or 0.01 points to end at 33.02 and Heineken (AS:HEIN) gained 0.07% or 0.05 points to 73.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 96 to 31 and 11 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 8.53% to 13.89.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 1.36% or 0.71 to $53.05 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.89% or 0.49 to hit $55.61 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.38% or 4.75 to trade at $1234.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.33% to 1.0663, while EUR/GBP fell 0.22% to 0.8513.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.42% at 100.56.
