SYDNEY, March 6 (Reuters) - Australian government spending for consumption rose 1.7 percent in the December quarter to an inflation-adjusted A$83.16 billion ($64.67 billion), the Australian Bureau of Statistics reported on Tuesday.
Investment spending by the government and public enterprises rose 2.9 percent to A$22.85 billion, implying overall spending made a sizable addition to economic growth last quarter.
The data will feed into the gross domestic product (GDP)report for the December quarter due on Wednesday.($1 = 1.2858 Australian dollars)
