SYDNEY, May 31 (Reuters) - Australian government spending for consumption rose 0.9 percent in the first quarter to an inflation-adjusted A$74.34 billion ($53.6 billion), the Australian Bureau of Statistics reported on Tuesday.
Investment spending by the government and public enterprises increased 0.7 percent to A$17.59 billion.
The data will feed into the gross domestic product (GDP) report for the first quarter due on Wednesday. ($1 = 1.3858 Australian dollars)
