SYDNEY, Jan 21 (Reuters) - Australian employment boasted another solid increase in December and unemployment fell more than expected as strength in consumer spending and housing fuelled a recovery from coronavirus lockdowns.
Figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) on Thursday showed employment rose a net 50,000 in December, on top of a 90,000 gain in November.
The jobless rate dropped to 6.6%, from 6.8%, under market forecasts of 6.7% and down from a peak of 7.5% in July.
