SYDNEY, March 7 (Reuters) - A U.S. proposal to imposetariffs on imported steel and aluminium was "very regrettable,"the head of Australia's central bank said on Wednesday.
The proposed tariffs were manageable but reprisals would bevery damaging, Reserve Bank of Australia Governor Philip Lowesaid in Sydney, adding that history shows protectionism is bad.
