Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Banking, Insurance and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 declined 0.45% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN), which rose 3.51% or 0.020 points to trade at 0.590 at the close. Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) added 2.38% or 2.00 points to end at 86.00 and Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to 17.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which lost 4.50% or 0.050 points to trade at 1.060 in late trade. Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) declined 3.15% or 0.71 points to end at 21.86 and Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE) shed 3.00% or 1.50 points to 48.52.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 18 to 10 and 56 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.70% or 0.31 to $44.38 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.09% or 0.04 to hit $45.62 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 1.93% or 25.15 to trade at $1279.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 1.38% to 347.670, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 317.000.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.92% at 97.83.
