Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Utilities, Financials and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 1.23% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Proximus NV (BR:PROX), which rose 0.31% or 0.08 points to trade at 25.87 at the close. Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) fell 0.14% or 0.07 points to end at 48.55 and Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) was down 0.24% or 0.25 points to 105.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 2.75% or 1.520 points to trade at 53.800 in late trade. Ageas (BR:AGES) declined 2.28% or 0.745 points to end at 31.995 and Telenet Group (BR:TNET) shed 2.12% or 1.03 points to 47.77.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 109 to 37 and 10 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 1.55% or 20.00 to $1308.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 3.24% or 1.51 to hit $45.16 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 3.22% or 1.55 to trade at $46.59 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.53% to 1.1115, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.9028.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.54% at 97.23.
