Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 5.08% or 0.218 points to trade at 4.513 at the close. Gemalto (AS:GTO) added 2.46% or 1.35 points to end at 56.27 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) was up 1.66% or 0.26 points to 15.61 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NN Group (AS:NN), which lost 1.19% or 0.36 points to trade at 29.79 in late trade. Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) declined 0.79% or 1.90 points to end at 238.40 and Relx NV (AS:RELN) shed 0.45% or 0.070 points to 15.490.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 97 to 59 and 18 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 2.88% to 20.65.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.47% or 0.23 to $49.24 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.84% or 0.42 to hit $50.14 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.02% or 0.25 to trade at $1214.45 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.29% to 1.1156, while EUR/GBP fell 0.36% to 0.7735.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 95.49.
