Investing.com - Blockchain technology may get a lot of positive publicity, but it's not on the mind of the average chief information officer.
That's the conclusion of Gartner's 2018 CIO Survey.
Almost eight out of 10 surveyed said they either had no interest in the technology behind cryptocurrencies or any action planned. Only 1% indicated any blockchain adoption within their organization, while 8% were in a short-term planning stage or actively experimenting with the technology,
The survey concludes that the state of blockchain adoption and deployment is "massively hyped."
The survey also found that those organizations that had either invested in blockchain or were planning to had encountered a number of start-up problems, including a shortage of skilled engineers.
