Investing.com - Oil steadied Tuesday after sharp losses the previous session.
Brent crude added 9 cents, or 0.16%, to $55.03 at 08:00 ET. U.S. crude gained 10 cents, or 0.19%, to $52.06.
The focus remains on compliance with agreed output cuts of 1.8 million barrels a day by OPEC and non-OPEC producers.
Doubts persist about the extent to which the cuts can make inroads into a global supply glut.
American Petroleum Institute U.S. crude inventory figures are due out later in the session.
These will be followed Wednesday by official Energy Information Administration figures on Wednesday.
The dollar index edged higher. A stronger dollar depresses demand for oil.
