Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Financials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.58%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 1.62% or 0.890 points to trade at 55.840 at the close. Telenet Group (BR:TNET) added 1.27% or 0.60 points to end at 48.41 and Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI) was up 1.14% or 1.09 points to 96.74 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which lost 1.66% or 1.70 points to trade at 100.70 in late trade. NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) declined 1.46% or 0.60 points to end at 40.52 and KBC (BR:KBC) shed 1.34% or 0.750 points to 55.150.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 88 to 56 and 12 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.32% or 3.95 to $1228.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.44% or 0.20 to hit $45.61 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.60% or 0.28 to trade at $46.67 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.13% to 1.0710, while EUR/GBP fell 0.21% to 0.8592.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 100.22.
