Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Technology Hardware & Equipment and Electronic & Electrical Equipment sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.59%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS), which rose 4.28% or 245.00 points to trade at 5965.00 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 3.73% or 46.00 points to end at 1278.00 and Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) was up 2.60% or 5.30 points to 209.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Next PLC (LON:NXT), which lost 2.65% or 131.00 points to trade at 4820.00 in late trade. Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS) declined 2.63% or 5.300 points to end at 196.200 and BT Group PLC (LON:BT) shed 2.38% or 8.550 points to 350.300.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1475 to 788 and 438 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.94% or 11.10 to $1189.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 2.65% or 1.22 to hit $47.28 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.36% or 1.14 to trade at $49.38 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.53% to 1.2409, while EUR/GBP rose 0.41% to 0.8525.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 101.48.
