BEIJING, Jan 13 (Reuters) - China imported a record 4.95 million tonnes of copper in 2016, up 2.9 percent from a year earlier, customs data showed on Friday.
Based on Reuters calculations, December imports rose almost 30 percent to 490,000 tonnes from a month earlier. Official monthly data is expected later on Friday.
December's total compares with 380,000 tonnes in November and 530,000 tonnes in December 2015, one of the highest figures on record.
