SYDNEY, Feb 9 (Reuters) - Australian wheat production for the 2015/16 season totalled 24.2 million tonnes, a rise of nearly 1 percent from a previous estimate in December, the Australian Bureau of Agriculture, Resource Economics and Rural Sciences (ABARES) said on Tuesday.
Australia is the world's fourth largest wheat producer. Its previous 2015/16 production estimate was 23.98 million tonnes,
Australian wheat production has supplemented bumper global supplies, pushing prices Wv1 to near five-year lows this week.
Australia will sow the 2016/17 wheat production in April.
Cotton production during the 2015/16 season was below ABARES' previous estimate. Cotton output was pegged at 546,000 tonnes, below ABARES' last estimate of 560,000 tonnes.
Canola production was confirmed in line with the December estimate of 2.9 million tonnes.
