SYDNEY, Aug 22 (Reuters) - Australia's BlueScope Steel Ltd BSL.AX said Monday its annual profit more than doubled, owing to stronger domestic demand and a weaker Australian dollar.
The company said that underlying annual profit for the year to June 30 rose 119 percent to A$293.1 million, compared to $134.1 million for the corresponding period a year ago. This falls just short of the A$300.74 million profit anticipated by 11 market analysts polled by Thomson Reuters.
Sales grew by 8 percent to A$9.2 billion. BlueScope announced a final dividend of 3 cents, the same as last year.
