Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Utilities, Basic Resources and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite added 0.62%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Attica Bank SA (AT:BOAr), which rose 4.35% or 0.005 points to trade at 0.120 at the close. Revoil Petrol (AT:REVr) added 3.63% or 0.021 points to end at 0.602 and Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) was up 3.60% or 0.009 points to 0.259 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Select Textile (AT:EPIr), which lost 4.56% or 0.013 points to trade at 0.272 in late trade. Centric Hold (AT:DESr) declined 3.45% or 0.006 points to end at 0.168 and Thrace Plastic (AT:THRr) shed 2.48% or 0.070 points to 2.750.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 66 to 44 and 10 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.03% or 0.41 to $1241.49 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.49% or 0.69 to hit $47.09 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.52% or 0.74 to trade at $49.58 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.25% to 1.1525, while EUR/GBP fell 0.27% to 0.8835.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 94.51.
