Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Telecoms and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.79%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa), which rose 2.42% or 0.580 points to trade at 24.560 at the close. SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) added 2.02% or 0.28 points to end at 13.89 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) was up 1.88% or 0.134 points to 7.262 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Wolters Kluwer (AS:WLSNc), which lost 4.95% or 1.69 points to trade at 32.34 in late trade. Vopak (AS:VOPA) declined 4.26% or 1.88 points to end at 42.22 and Heineken (AS:HEIN) shed 3.58% or 2.53 points to 68.19.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 107 to 71 and 11 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 5.46% to 19.97.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 4.37% or 2.16 to $51.60 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 4.73% or 2.45 to hit $54.29 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.55% or 6.45 to trade at $1167.45 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.34% to 1.0627, while EUR/GBP fell 0.27% to 0.8444.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.34% at 101.28.
