Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Technology and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 0.56%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr), which rose 12.50% or 0.019 points to trade at 0.171 at the close. National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) added 9.09% or 0.02 points to end at 0.24 and Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) was up 9.04% or 0.063 points to 0.760 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Autohellas (AT:AUTr), which lost 6.80% or 0.76 points to trade at 10.41 in late trade. Iaso (AT:IASr) declined 5.45% or 0.024 points to end at 0.416 and J. & P. Avax (AT:AVAr) shed 4.07% or 0.012 points to 0.283.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 54 to 35 and 12 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.76% or 9.50 to $1266.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 2.04% or 0.78 to hit $37.51 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 2.58% or 1.06 to trade at $40.01 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.34% to 1.1147, while EUR/GBP rose 0.63% to 0.7801.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.81% at 96.40.
