Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrial Engineering, Forestry & Paper and Financial Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which rose 3.95% or 34.40 points to trade at 905.00 at the close. 3I Group PLC (LON:III) added 3.01% or 33.00 points to end at 1130.00 and London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSE) was up 2.99% or 204.00 points to 7022.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC), which lost 4.29% or 106.00 points to trade at 2363.00 in late trade. HSBC Holdings PLC (LON:HSBA) declined 3.73% or 23.00 points to end at 594.40 and Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) shed 2.22% or 40.40 points to 1779.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1236 to 883 and 207 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.71% or 10.65 to $1494.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.64% or 0.93 to hit $55.73 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.39% or 0.86 to trade at $61.16 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.33% to 1.2864, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.8628.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 97.518.
