The investment seeks a high level of current income consistent with stability of principal. Under normal market conditions, the fund invests at least 80% of its net assets (plus the amount of any borrowing for investment purposes) in investment grade debt securities or preferred stock. It may also invest in high yield, high risk bonds, notes, debentures and other debt obligations or preferred stock commonly known as “junk bonds.” The fund utilizes derivatives primarily in the form of U.S. Treasury futures contracts in order to manage its duration, or interest rate risk.
