Investment Strategy

The investment seeks to provide growth of capital. The fund invests primarily in the equity securities of science and technology companies around the globe. Under normal circumstances, it invests at least 80% of its net assets in securities of science or technology companies. The fund also may invest in companies that utilize science and/or technology as an agent of change to significantly enhance their business opportunities. It may invest in securities issued by companies of any size, and may invest without limitation in foreign securities, including securities of issuers within emerging markets. The fund is non-diversified.

Biography Gus Zinn is a Senior Vice President of Waddell & Reed Investment Management Company and Ivy Investment Management Company. He joined Macquarie Asset Management (MAM) as part of the firm’s April 30, 2021 acquisition (Transaction) of the investment management business of Waddell & Reed Financial, Inc., the parent company of Ivy Investment Management Company (IICO), the former investment advisor of the Transaction Funds. He joined IICO in 2003 as an investment analyst and became an assistant portfolio manager for investment companies managed by IICO (or its affiliates) in 2014. He took on portfolio management responsibilities in 2016. He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Trinity University and an MBA in finance from the University of Texas at Austin.

Biography Zack comes to Meritage after a 32-year career with Waddell and Reed where he served as Portfolio Manager for the firm’s Science and Technology Fund strategy and as the Director of Research for Global Equity and Fixed Income (2011 – 2016). Waddell and Reed was acquired by the Australian investment firm, Macquarie Asset Management, in 2021. Zack spent a year with the new organization before choosing to pursue local opportunities. Zack grew up in Kansas City and received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Business Administration from the University of Missouri - Kansas City. Zack will serve as a member of the Meritage Investment Team, where he will partner with Senior Portfolio Manager, Len Mitchell, CFA, on the Growth Equity strategy and with Mark Eveans, CFA, President, and long-time CIO. Zack will also serve on the firm’s Management Council, where he will be involved in firm strategy and leadership. Zack has a son and two daughters. He has been involved with the Heart of America Council, BSA, for many years and is a supporter of the Kansas City Ballet.

Biography Garcia is a senior portfolio manager with AIM Capital Management, his employer since 2000. Previously, he was a vice president and portfolio manager with Waddell & Reed from 1984 to 2000. He joined that firm in 1983 as a senior investment analyst specializing in technology stocks. Prior to that, he worked as an analyst for three years at USAA in San Antonio, then joined Republic Bank as a senior analyst in 1980.
