Investment Strategy

The investment seeks to provide long-term capital appreciation. The fund invests mainly in the stocks of companies located outside the United States and is expected to diversify its assets in countries across developed and emerging markets. In selecting stocks, the fund's advisors evaluate foreign markets around the world and choose large-, mid-, and small-capitalization companies considered to have above-average growth potential. He headed our European Equity team until 2003 when he founded our Long Term Global Growth strategy. He has Chaired the EAFE Alpha Portfolio Group since its inception in 2003 and has been the Manager and then Joint Manager of Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust since 2000. In 2015 James became the Chair of our newly formed Equity Improvement Group. He has also served as a member of the Advisory Board of the government sponsored Kay Review and as Chair of the subsequent industry working group that set up the UK Investor Forum.

Biography Kavé joined Baillie Gifford in 1999. He is head of research for the UK Equity Team, and Chair of the firm’s Investment Risk Committee. He initially worked on the European Small and Mid-Cap Team before moving to the UK Team in 2002. Kavé joined the International Growth Portfolio Construction Group in 2005 and went on to set up a dedicated research team for that group in 2011. He became a Partner in 2012 and returned to the UK Team in 2019.

Biography Charles Anniss joined M&G in 2000 as a member of the investment communications team and became an analyst on the equities team in 2003, focusing on European smaller companies. In 2006, he took responsibility for managing the M&G European Smaller Companies Fund, and in January 2011 he was appointed co-manager of the M&G Pan European Fund and the M&G European Fund. Charles graduated with a degree in French and Spanish from Bristol University and is a CFA charterholder.

Biography Greg Aldridge joined M&G in 2004 as an analyst covering basic industries stocks. He was appointed fund manager of the M&G Global Growth Fund in May 2007. He is also co-manager of the Vanguard International Growth Fund. In January 2011, he was appointed co-manager of the M&G Pan European Fund and the M&G European Fund. Greg joined M&G from McKinsey where he spent three years working with industrial and consumer goods clients on strategy and organisational issues. Prior to this, he spent four years in the investment banking division of Deutsche Morgan Grenfell specialising in the utilities sector. Greg holds an MA in economics from Cambridge University and an MBA from INSEAD.

Biography Ms. Maisonneuve is CIO Equities, managing director, global head of equities and a portfolio manager based in the London office. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2014, she was head of global and international equities at Schroders plc. Previously, she was co-CIO and director at Clay Finlay, a portfolio manager at State Street Research and Management, and a portfolio manager at Batterymarch Financial Management. She has 27 years of investment experience and holds an MBA from the Ecole Superieure Libre des Sciences Commerciales Appliquees (ESLSCA) in Paris. She also holds a master’s degree in Mandarin Chinese from Dauphine University in Paris and an undergraduate degree from People’s University (Renda) in Beijing.

Biography Graham French joined M&G in 1989 as a graduate from Durham University where he studied geography. His fund management responsibilities include managing the M&G Global Basics Fund and the M&G Managed Growth Fund and co-managing the Vanguard Precious Metals & Mining Fund.
