Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Oil & Gas Producers and Mobile Telecommunications sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.45%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which rose 8.08% or 131.50 points to trade at 1,758.50 at the close. Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) added 6.12% or 225.50 points to end at 3,910.00 and BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB) was up 4.99% or 129.00 points to 2,714.00 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 7.74% or 92.00 points to trade at 1,097.00 in late trade. Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) declined 3.59% or 344.00 points to end at 9,248.00 and Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP) shed 3.52% or 62.00 points to 1,702.00.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1028 to 861 and 432 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.13% or 2.60 to $1,931.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 5.93% or 6.11 to hit $109.20 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 6.63% or 7.16 to trade at $115.09 a barrel.

GBP/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 1.32, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.17% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 98.47.
