Investment Strategy

The investment objective of the Portfolio is to outperform its benchmark, over the medium to long term, which is defined for the purposes of this portfolio as a period of at least 60 months. The effective exposure to equity securities, interest-bearing securities, financial instruments and assets in liquid form in the portfolio will be managed aggressively. The portfolio may be exposed to a combination of equity securities, interest-bearing securities, financial instruments or assets in liquid form, subject to the following limitations: In addition to the normal statutory investment limitations allocations will be subject to the following limitations: allocations will be appropriate for the retirement schemes in South Africa, actual exposure to equities will typically be close to the maximum limit allowed for retirement schemes, the limit on offshore exposure will be in accordance with the requirements for retirement schemes.
